Clearly, I Wasn't Thinking

Okay, I know it's winter, and this is Michigan, but the crazy weather we've been having lately is a bit too much. After all, winter is not supposed to be in the low teens with 10" of snow one day then warm up to nearly 60 degrees the next. That's nuts. But that's how it went this weekend.

Do you know what happens to all that snow (as well as the 12" already on the ground) when the weather gets that warm? It melts. And melts. And melts. It turns everything to mud, it overflows the still-frozen storm sewers, and it seeps into people's basements. In 24 hours, we go from winter weather snow advisories to flash flood warnings.

The next day, when the temperatures drop back into the more winter like range of high 20's, all that melted snow freezes. On the sidewalks, on the driveways, on the roads. It's great for skating. I just don't care to skate on the road in my car!

So what was I thinking when I moved from Germany back home to Michigan? I was free to settle any where I wanted, so why did I decide on Michigan
? The answer....

Clearly, I wasn't thinking!

Still, it is pretty to look at ...if you don't have to drive in it.
